This is a great piece, Janet. You personalized the bread price increase in a really accessible way. Oh, and you know? If I lived near you, I’d be buying my bread there, and not just because it’s local, organic, and artisanal. It’s also inexpensive. In Nashville, a loaf of bread is $3-6, easy. It’s usually $4 a loaf…and that’s a 70 mile drive for decent bread. No wonder I just buy the flour and make my own, is it!?

Hi, Joanne,
Some of the loaves around here are $4 or more, too, but you’re welcome to come try them at any time! — Janet
