Tip: Sign up for late season with CSA

August 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Cooking tips, local food

If you’d love to get CSA produce, but you didn’t sign up in time last spring, you just might want to see whether there are openings now for fall.

You know how it goes. People lose interest, move, get sick or drop out for some other reason (whatever the activity), which makes room for someone else.

At the Rolling Prairie Farmer’s Alliance here, they’ve gone through the waiting lists and have openings at the two Lawrence locations: Mondays at the Lawrence Jewish Community Center 4 to 6:30 p.m. (moved from the Community Mercantile due to remodeling) and Thursdays
at Local Burger 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. You’ll find more information at the Rolling Prairie website.

If you live elsewhere, check out these resources for finding a CSA.

Check back in a month, too. Some people just might find it’s more than they want to deal with when school resumes.

At the Kansas City Food Circle, we try to help folks find *Organic, Natural and Free Range* CSA providers nearby (generally within 120 miles of KCMO’s city-center). Growers with more shares than buyers can let us know, and we’ll post their info, ASAP. Buyers who have not yet found a local CSA for the upcoming season can browse or search for a source near them.
