Online petition boosts organic methods in farm bill

July 11th, 2007 · 2 Comments · Environment, Farm Bill, Healthy eating, local food

If you want Congress to promote healthier food, now you can sign a petition to tell your rep. It may not be quite as effective as calling, but it’s far better than doing nothing, and it couldn’t be easier.
Grow Organics
Just click on the cute kid button here, and you’ll be transported to the Environmental Working Group’s petition. Even if you aren’t familiar with the EWG, the text of the petition makes sense. It emphasizes giving organic growers a fair shake in the farm bill.

Although I’m not particularly familiar with the EWG, I figured it is OK based largely on the report at SourceWatch. I like to check there when I want more information about organizations that sound high-minded but are, perhaps, good practitioners of doublespeak.

Go ahead. Click. Sign the petition. Add to the verbiage if you like (mentioning, perhaps, support for local food initiatives?) Maybe we can make a difference. We won’t know until we try.
