One of the things I’m loving about this blog is it gives me an excuse to spend hours reading about food-related topics. Along the way I’ve been finding an array of cool resources. Here’s one:
Now, if I did that right, you should be able to click on the banner and go to the foodroutes.org website. (No harm in listing two links, right?)
Besides providing lots of pretty pictures, foodroutes.org also provides a collection of fact sheets about the price and cost (including health and environmental costs, for instance) of various common foodstuffs; links to more information about why to eat local and where to find locally produced foods; and a chance to take the local food-buying challenge. I suppose it’s mostly an awareness-raising campaign; still, it feels good to sign up to spend $5, $10, $20 a week (or whatever) on local foods for the duration of your choice.
I signed up. What the heck; it also put me in the drawing for a basket of local food. Yea! Why don’t you sign up, too?
